The Job: We’re looking for a Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator I with the ability to learn entry-level sewer system operation and maintenance. They also must have a high level of public relation skills for daily interaction with citizens as well as being able to work as a team with co-workers. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a valid drivers license. You must be able to be on call on a regularly scheduled basis during weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays. This job requires outdoor work that involves exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, risk of physical injury from heavy equipment or machinery, and hazardous chemicals or materials. Utility Worker I position will start at $13.58 per hour.

  • Daily testing and lab work required by Federal, State, County, and local regulations including additional testing as assigned.
  • Preparation of and maintenance submission of monthly reports to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
  • Janitorial duties with regard to the waste water treatment plant to maintain and safe and clean work environment.
  • Routine monitoring and maintenance of all portions of the waste water system including proper application and disposal of treatment plant sludge from treatment processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Utilities Foreman.


  • Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of waste water collection and treatment systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Federal, State, County, and Local regulations as they relate to water and sewer systems.
