Starting in June 2012 the Smithville Police Department transferred communications and dispatching services to the Platte County Sheriff’s Department. 

“This allows police, fire and E.M.S. to all be dispatched by the same communication center,” said Chief Jason Lockridge.  “We will also be rolling calls over after hours and on weekends, so our citizens should speak to a person any time they call, not a recording.”

Citizens should continue to use the 911 system for emergencies.
