Utilities Department
The Utilities department provides water and sanitary sewer services for the city of Smithville. The Utilities department is three departments in one; the water plant, the wastewater plant, and the distribution crew.

The water plant is a 2.5 million gallon a day plant. The water comes from Smithville Lake and is treated, tested, and pumped out to our four towers where it waits to be used.

The wastewater plant is a 1.25 million gallon a day plant. The plant receives wastewater from 33 lift stations located through out the city.

The distribution crew is responsible for maintaining all water mains, sewer main, and the 33 lift stations. They also do day-to-day work orders to assist our customers.

Our hours of operation for the water plant are seven days a week to include all holidays 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.

The wastewater plant operates Monday thru Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00pm.

Distribution operates Monday thru Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

To contact the water or wastwater department please call City Hall at 816-532-3897 or complete a "report a concern" through this website.

We have people on call seven days a week, 365 days a year for emergency calls. Should an emergency arise after hours or you can not reach any one at the numbers above, please call Platte County dispatch at 1-816-858-3521. They will call a police officer who will get in touch with someone.
