City of Smithville Establishes Community Advisory and Closes City Facilities

While Maintaining City Services

Smithville, MO- In response to COVID-19 concerns, the City of Smithville is taking steps to mitigate the risk of exposure and to ensure the health of our community, while maintaining City services.  Beginning Monday, March 16th at 5:00 pm, all City facilities will be closed to the public through April 6th or until health professionals advise otherwise.  This includes:

  • Smithville City Hall
  • Megan’s Paws & Claws
  • Smithville Police Department Lobby
  • Smithville Senior Center & Parks Rental Facilities

During this time the City encourages residents and customers to take advantage of the online City services, including payment of City water bills.  Pay your water bill online at using the Online Payments button.  Payments may also be left in the drop box near the front door of City Hall, or mailed to City of Smithville, 107 West Main Street, Smithville, MO 64089.

The City is working across all departments and with the Clay County Public Health Center to prevent potential spread of the virus and ensure proper measures and precautions are in place.  It is important that individuals at higher risk for serious illness, sue to age or long-term health problems, take actions to reduce their risk.

Smithville residents should stay informed and ensure they are receiving accurate information from reliable sources.  The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Clay County Public Health Center (CCPHC) provide up-to-date information on their websites and social media platforms.  The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) has activated a 24/7 phone hotline (877.435.8411) for the public or providers to receive information or guidance related to COVID-19.  The City of Smithville will continue to provide the latest information, relating to cancellations and closure of City hosted events and programs in the effort to keep our citizens updated.
