- The City partnered with the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce to host the 2026 Community Awards Banquet. Special thanks to Parks & Recreation Director Matt Denton and City Clerk Linda Drummond for their behind the scenes work for this event! We are excited to share that Melissa Green, Public Works Admin Assistant was awarded Employee of the Year! Melissa has dedicated more than 11 years of service to the City of Smithville. In addition to providing administrative support to the Public Works Department, she manages the City’s animal pound. She is well known throughout the community for her commitment to our residents and our furry friends!

Maintenance Updates
- Parks
- Helped set up for the awards banquet
- Removed a wasp nest
- Maintenance work on the soccer fields and added a new field
- Completed brush hog and finished mower maintenance
- Picked up tree limbs and trash along the trails
- Streets
- Submitted Annual MS4 Permit report
- Filled water break holes on Meadow and compiled a repair list of potholes throughout the city
- Crack sealed in Harborview subdivision
- Hauled road rock to NW 134th St
- Repaired storm boxes on Tipperary and Kelly Dr
- Unloaded brine tank from dump truck to prepare for gravel hauling
- Removed and repaired heater core on dump truck
- Replaced hydraulic lines on motor grader
- Repaired fender on trailer 1017; replaced 2 tires
- Picked up and installed new tire for trailer 1017
- Began resealing liners inside street sweeper with silicone
- Completed new driveway inspection on N. Virginia Ave
- Utilities
- Total Drinking Water Production 6,706,000 gal
- Completed all testing required at the WTP and WWTP
- Conducted weekly chemical level checks at the WTP for ordering
- Completed yearly sludge report to EPA
- Completed monthly DMR and reported it to MoDNR
- Backwashed filters #1,2,3,4 and 5
- Working on current water usage report
- Demoing old conduit and electrical lines in the chemical building at the WWTP and installing new lines to control chemical feeders
- Completed 17 work order and 61 locates
- Treated 4,188,000 gallons of wastewater
- Completed weekly checks of all booster station and towers in the distribution system
- Ran sewer for alley way north of 107 West Main Street. Sewer main did not have any blockages
- Ran sewer for 514 East Brassfield. Treated tree roots, and no customers were backed up
- Spotted the sewer force main for Grace Community Church to determine size and material
- Completed monthly disconnects for non-payment
- Repaired water break trash pump and 1 hot saw
- Completed monthly and quarterly WWTP samples required by MoDNR. Delivered samples to Pace Analytical.
