Senior Center Updates
  • The SC is honored to be chosen as a 2025 recipient of the Sandy Gardner Giving Back Awards by Northland Professionals in Aging! Matt Denton and Amy Alexander accepted the award at the NPA holiday luncheon Dec 10.
  • Continued to plan SC January calendar
  • Preparing to recognize our many volunteers next week
  • Submitted 4th Quarter fitness report to Clay County Senior Services
  • Worked on 4th Quarter CCSS grant reporting

Project Updates

  • Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Improvements – Filter #4 at the WTP is completed with new media and is back online. Filter # 2 is now off-line for asbestos removal and media replacement.
  • Commercial Sidewalk - The new contractor, Selby Excavating LLC, began work on Nov 3 and has made progress on the south side of the project near the school.
    The northbound lane of Commercial Avenue (From Hospital Drive to E Meadows) will be close from 7 am to 5 pm starting Dec 2nd. The project is anticipated to be completed in January.
  • 144th Pump Station (PS) – Epic is making substantial progress with the pump station wet well and force main. Force Main from HWY 169 north to Hwy 92 is nearly complete. The bore under 169 HWY for the 144th street project is underway now. On 12/5, 144th St bore for the sewer force main is now on hold until Friday December 19th after a bore company bored through the high-pressure gas main under 169 Hwy. Northbound lanes have been shut down for 6 days. Lane closures on 169 Hwy will continue until Friday December 19th.
  • Church and Mill watermain replacement – Roads will reopen Friday 12/12/25.
  • OK Trail – Bids opened 10/28 and will be awarded 12/4 pending DNR’s approval.
  • Street Maintenance Program – Awarded to Asphaltic Surfaces. With the Commercial Sidewalk project delayed, the overlay of the Commercial Avenue will be completed next Spring.
  • 169/Richardson Signal application for Cost Share was submitted on 10/3
  • City Hall Sewer Line Repair- Sewer line was replaced, and Main St. will reopen Monday 12/15/25.

Maintenance Updates

  • Parks 
    • Snow removal on streets, trails, and park parking lots
    • Completed downtown Christmas decorations for the holiday events this weekend
  • Streets
    • Pretreated major roadways ahead of forecasted conditions.
    • Completed a full snow event operational shift and completed post-event follow-up actions.
    • Cleared snow from the walking trail (Lakeland to Liberty) and cleaned parking spots at Heritage Park playground.
    • Responded to slick/ice concerns
    • Installed new feed chain and front roller bearings on salt spreader
    • Replaced/repairs on signs at multiple locations 
    • Completed pothole patching at multiple locations 
    • Progress has been made on City Hall's dumpster fence project
    Utilities 
    • Total Drinking Water Production 6,229,000 gal.
    • Completed all testing required at the WTP.
    • Ordered 6 new turbidity monitors for filter effluent sampling.
    • Currently have a company reviewing our SCADA system to give us a bid to take over our system.
    • Staff took and delivered 5 Bac’t samples
    • Completed 12 work orders
    • 60 locates completed
    • Completed all testing required at WWTP
    • Treated 4,706,000 gallons of wastewater
    • Staff replaced the anti-freeze pump on the generator at the north booster station.
    • Received a call that a hydrant hit by a vehicle. Ordered replacement parts and blocked off the riser.
    • Lowered 4 1” meter pits to grade to prevent freezing.
    • Staff is working to flush dead-end hydrants in lower usage areas to bring up chlorine residuals. There are currently 4 hydrants that we are flushing weekly.
