Project Updates
- Commercial St Sidewalk: construction beginning in June 2025.
- 144th Pump Station and West Bypass project: construction beginning in June 2025

Maintenance Updates
- Water Plant Division
- Produced 7,748,000 gallons of water for the week
- Received zero water complaints
- Ross and subcontracting companies continue plant upgrade project
- Plant Operators with the assistance of the Distribution/Collections crew placed our copper ion exchange system back online at the lake intake structure
- Plant Operators continue pulling weekly samples from lake for taste/odor study
- Wastewater / Operations Division
- Treated 5,274,000 gallons of wastewater
- Completed 20 work orders and 64 locates
- Completed two 1” water service taps.
- Staff conducted the shutdown of the raw water intake inspection. We assisted the Corp of Engineers with dewatering the intake structure. Staff conducted several tests to assure the water was back to normal Manganese and turbidity levels before returning to normal operations.
- Staff rebuilt the SCADA box at Diamond Crest lift station.
- Staff installed a wet well aerator at Quail Ridge lift station.
- Changed out 21-meter radio transmitters for warranty return.
- Streets Division
- The crew mowed various locations including East Main Street and around the lagoons.
- Crack Sealing in Harborview
- Used a vac-trailer to hydro-excavate a collapsed storm sewer at 301 Highland.
- Park Maintenance
- Brush-hogged open green space areas
- Prepared ball fields
- Completed a water leak at the campground
- Worked with the High School Cross Country team to create a course at Smith's Fork Park.
Other Highlights
- Meet & Greet: On Friday May 9th Officers from the Smithville Police Department, attended a Meet & Greet hosted at a local business on the square by Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zach Thompson. These events are happening throughout the county, and was well attended in Smithville.
- CPR and AED training: This week, staff from multiple departments participated in CPR and AED training and received certification through a course provided by NRAD.
- New City Website: New website launched May 13 smithvillemo.org
